I don’t know about you, but I am thinking this new year is going to bring about a whole new meaning of self -care for me. Which got me thinking about how I can help people create soothing and balanced interiors to aid in the practice of self-care. So, I pulled together a trio of my 2021 interior decorating tips that I think emphasize self-care and are easily applied to any lifestyle.

  1. Paint: Scientific research has shows that colors can  boost our mood and make us feel calm. Why not reimagine what home means by practicing mindfulness with new neutrals or swaddling yourself in rich tones. This years color trend is all about natural hues that are comforting, compassionate and optimistic.

2. Bring in the outdoors: Establishing a connection with the outdoors within your interior will help to escalate a calming space. It’s our natural reaction to feel more relaxed when we feel like we’re in fresh air. Incorporate greenery with live plants, add fresh flowers into your favorite vase on a weekly basis and force flower bulbs to bloom in your kitchen window.

3. Make the most of natural light: Natural light is a natural mood booster. Research has proven that natural lighting helps people to be more productive, happier, healthier and calmer. Ensure that you’re making the most of natural light by installing minimalist window covering that can be fully opened, placing chairs near windows and using mirrors to reflect light.

I hope you found this blog inspiring…after all your home is a place of refuge, a much needed retreat, and your sanctuary to nurture your practice of self-care.
